My concern for universal health care has prompted some rather big changes in my outlook on life. I know many people who live off the grid and don't pay taxes but go to hospitals, send their kids to school, and work off the books. They work in the cash economy. The amount of the tax loss from the cash economy must be huge. I bet it would pay for a lot of the health costs that must be met.
I'm not one for excessive government power. But in this case, it's time for simple computer checks when people apply for a driver's license. This should be preceded by some amnesty plan so that people have an incentive to start paying. Believe me. People don't fool around with that driver's license. They use it as the starting point for everything else. Once it becomes a regular part of driver's renewal and the it's done. People will come back on the grid. It's tough love but dying because you don't have health insurance is a lot tougher. It's silly and irresponsible for us to have elected Obama and not allow him what he needs to change the country.
