What a beautiful picture. I have seen so much of these forests come down over the last fifty years. It was part of the way people earned a living in the area. I never thought about it until the last ten years as I began to notice all the trees that were gone.
I guess I would have to say that I'm against it today. We have to harvest the forest and many people don't understand how that wood is in their lives. Where would they live without it? It's a question of good sense. Too many clear cuts now and that's for sure.
I'm curious how you found my site, but really grateful, Jock. That a person with your background now understands the importance of stopping all old-growth cutting makes a difference. Also, Jock, it is very important to "tree-huggers" to understand the reality of people needing to make a living and the family tradition of logging in Oregon.

Were you a logger Jock?
I did some logging but mostly I've run sheep and cattle. Retired now. More time to think about things.
What do you think now about logging the old growth?

I have my daughter to thank for signing me up for everything on the computer. I saw her looking at your trees and liked the picture.
